The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Is Here, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games

Much like the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands

The film will feature once again of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
