Disturbing Footage Shows Point Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush
A police sergeant who rushed to the aid of a partner who was ambushed by a blade-wielder has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a knife to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the officers and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.
"Officer stabbed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and dashcam recording made public by the force revealed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.
He struck the policeman who lost balance and fell to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the ground despite being continually attacked with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "I need assistance on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple open wounds to his neck and further cuts to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster received cut injuries.
Authorities reported Sgt Foster employed his hands to control his fellow officer's bleeding before emergency responders reached the scene.
This most recent award comes subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted organizational Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the area union branch in spring 2024.
They further earned a Area Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The actions of all three officers ultimately rescued one another and meant no members of the public suffered any harm."
Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in spring 2024, as stated by authorities.
